Create Your Own Three Tiered Wedding Cake by Sheila Jonstone

Today wedding cakes are a huge affair, the bigger the better, the fancier the better too. One popular trend is to have a wedding cake with a fountain and lights. This article takes a look at just how you go about making a tiered wedding cake stand. Not everyone can afford to buy; some people do actually make their own wedding cakes. Some make them out of sheer pride because they happen to be excellent bakers; others unfortunately are forced to do it at home due to budget constraints.

Since it's a tiered wedding cake stand you will need to have three cake tins of varying sizes - 12, 9 and 6 inches should do just fine. Bake your cakes as you normally would and then put the pans aside. Next, you'll want to cut each cake into 2 layers. This will give you 6 cake halves.

Cut out of cardboard 3 circles that are the same circumference of your 3 tins. You can now place each cake on their new cardboard platter. Now is the fun part where you get to decorate the cakes. Start by putting your choice of filling between each pair of cake halves. The cakes will need to set in the fridge for around thirty minutes. After they have set you can place the three cakes on your stand. Don't forget to put protection between each layer of the cake to ensure that they stay in place. This is very important so do not forget or you will have your entire cake toppling over.

Now you can finish off any further decoration you want to do to the cakes. Your stand should have already been decorated, preferably in the colors of the wedding. That's it! Your new tiered wedding cake and stand is now ready for the big day.
